The Clwydian Range forms a 35km north-south chain of undulating hills stretching from the Vale of Clwyd in the west to the foothills of the Dee Estuary to the east; from Prestatyn Hillside in the north to the Nant y Garth pass in the South.
Almost the entire 201 km coastline of Ynys Môn is designated as an AONB. The island contains a great variety of fine coastal landscapes.
Llŷn AONB has been designated mainly on the basis of the unrivalled beauty of its landscape, coastline and islands combined with the striking igneous protrusions inland.
Chosen for its classic coastline and outstanding natural environment, Gower was the first AONB to be designated in 1956.
