Clynnog Fawr and the surrounding area from the air
Clynnog Fawr
Clynnog Fawr is a small village with a long history and a church that looks too grand for such a modest place. Possibly originating as a 7th century monastery, attacked by the Vikings and the Normans, Clynnog's church was a major stopping-off point for pilgrims on their route to Bardsey Island.
Clynnog Fawr lies on the Caernarfon to Pwllheli road (now being bypassed), between the high ground of Gyrn Goch and Bwlch Mawr and the open sea of Caernarfon Bay, with views across to Anglesey.
