Criccieth and the surrounding area from the air
Criccieth
The small town of Criccieth is dominated by its 13th century castle sitting atop a rocky promontory beside the sea. Beside the castle is a pleasant, though stony beach overlooked by an art deco cafe designed by architect Clough Williams-Ellis, who was better known for the Italianate village of Portmeirion a few miles along the coast.
Criccieth is a popular tourist hotspot situated as it is on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, while the Llŷn Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretches to the west.
